Encaustic wax is a significant addition to my list of mixed media techniques. I use it in my work to represent the idea of preservation presenting an environmental message. My encaustic blocks are pressed meadow flowers on a watercolour background, with some added line work and textures, sealed in encaustic wax, mounted onto an oak block. With 97% of wildflower meadows disseminated in UK, this is my way of highlighting the importance of these beautiful, natural areas which are essential for pollinators, many animals and birds, as well as soil retention and enrichment, not to mention a beautiful spectacle for humans to enjoy.
